One of the continuing problems that comes with Defragmenting disc drives is the restart every time something is change on the drive.  We can't always see the programs that are open when we start our machines and so when the Defrag program restarts, time after time, we don't know what's causing it.  We can try to start in Safe Mode and this will usually work but here is a small file that can help.

It is a registry file that makes sure that the Defrag starts and completes before anything else on StartUP.  It only works for the next time you start, so you can load it, restart, let defrag do its work and next time you start, all will be normal.

When you want to defrag again, simply re-run this file and it works!

This file came from the Help pages of the Australian Personla Computer magaine Jan 2003
